Stay focused with Essentialism
It’s happening again! I’m trying to do too many things and spreading myself thin. After a wave of ideas and a belief that I was focusing on one thing to find success in 2016, I have just spent the best part of a week building a website that I have no real interest in! Bollocks! How has this happened again? I thought I was focused!
Supermuscle was my idea behind an affiliate sports nutrition website and I had found a new WordPress theme and plugin that I was really excited to implement. After getting it all up and running I realized that the nuts and bolts of the site were to blog about sports nutrition. Don’t get me wrong, I love nutrition and I love to understand what its all about, but to write about it every day? No that’s not me.
I thought I would have learned my lesson since I had already gone down this road a few years ago when I set up Proteinsupermarket. Proteinsupermarket was my first attempt at generating money online, but an idea which would spiral out of control, leaving me off work and ill. I couldn’t leave an idea alone so rather than sticking to the one thing, it led to a mountain of ideas that I was trying to juggle all at once. Not to mention I was still holding a full-time job and had a hectic family life. Something was going to break, and it ended up being me.

Finding success with the One Thing
So as I pressed delete in my hosting account on yet another website project, I decided to spend some time looking at what I originally set out to do a few months before. This was to focus on the journey of finding success in 2016 and to record everything I do, everything I have done and everything I am going to do in the future, here in my own personal journal in the form of this blog. This is my ONE Thing.
My aim this year is to help you find your own success and a lot of this is to do with how you think about things. Your mind is a very powerful tool that has no instruction manual. As you move on in life, things change and you learn more about yourself. Although I have been consciously thinking about what I have learnt over the last 7 years since I stopped drinking, I realise now that my journey of finding success started a lot sooner. My aim is to keep on building that instructional manual until I die by recording all the information here.
“Extraordinary results happen only when you give the best you have to become the best you can be at your most important work.” – Gary Keller,
Success in 2016 requires action!
I have read countless books and other peoples successes and intend to keep on reading, I love it, it inspires and empowers me. This is part of developing my own instructional manual, picking out what works for me and learning from what doesn’t. For me, this is ‘success’ whether it works or not. Hopefully, by reading some of my experiences and what I have learnt from them, it will help you decide how you want to live your life and how you want your journey to be.
Remember though, NOTHING is achieved without ACTION. Learn by doing.
For those of you who have just arrived on my site, my name is Andy Firth and I am on The Journey of Finding Success. To find success in 2016 I’m looking forward to writing about what success means to me. I hope you will join me in sharing your journey too, and with that, I have a quick question . . . . .
